Prickly Pear Botanicals was born from a simple belief: the products we use on our bodies every day should be both beautiful and thoughtfully formulated.
More than 20 years ago, I began a personal journey to create safer, cleaner alternatives to the products I was finding on store shelves. As a licensed esthetician, permanent makeup artist, and medical aesthetics professional, I spent my career studying ingredients, skincare formulations, and product performance. The more I learned, the more I realized how many unnecessary chemicals were being used in everyday bath, body, and skincare products.
I became passionate about understanding not only the ingredients I was using on my clients, but also the products I was bringing into my own home and using on my family.
That passion eventually became Prickly Pear Botanicals.

Where Nature Meets Science

At Prickly Pear Botanicals, we believe natural skincare should be both safe and effective.
While we love botanical ingredients, we also believe in responsible formulation. Not everything "natural" is automatically safe, and not every science-backed ingredient is harmful. Our approach is to carefully select ingredients that support healthy skin while avoiding unnecessary additives whenever possible.
We formulate with high-quality oils, botanical extracts, plant butters, clays, minerals, antioxidants, and skin-loving ingredients chosen for their performance and safety.
As an esthetician, I wanted products that did more than simply sound natural. I wanted products that delivered real results. If a moisturizer claims to hydrate, it should contain ingredients that genuinely support skin hydration. If a product is designed to nourish the skin, it should be rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and beneficial botanical ingredients.
Every formulation is created with that philosophy in mind.

Our Journey into Artisan Soap Making
Our story began with handcrafted cold-process soaps made in small batches. Later, we expanded into hot-process soaps, body care products, and specialty bath products.
The earliest soaps I created were intentionally simple and incredibly clean, focusing on ingredient quality above all else. While rustic handmade soaps have a charm of their own, I also wanted products that felt luxurious and special.

I have always loved beautiful things. As an esthetician, I appreciate both function and aesthetics. A product should perform exceptionally well, but it should also bring joy every time you use it.
That philosophy continues to guide every product we create today.

Why We Love Shampoo & Conditioner Bars

In 2020, we began developing our own shampoo and conditioner bars as part of our commitment to both healthier ingredients and environmental responsibility.
Traditional liquid shampoos and body washes often rely on harsh detergents and require significant plastic packaging. Our shampoo bars utilize gentle, coconut-derived cleansing ingredients rather than Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), creating a rich cleansing experience that is effective yet gentle on both hair and skin.
Shampoo and conditioner bars also help reduce plastic waste, making them a more sustainable choice for environmentally conscious consumers.
